RUTA PORT - 07. Antigues oficines de la junta d'obres del port

Amb anterioritat a la Guerra Civil, ja hi havia un edifici que albergava les dependències de la Direcció d'Obres del Port i estava situat en el moll de la Duana, abans de la seua ampliació. Durant la contesa, l'edifici queda totalment destruït i les oficines, tant de la Direcció com de la Junta d'Obres del Port, es traslladen al convent dels Pares Dominics, en el carrer Ciril Amorós. Acabada la guerra, es decidix traslladar provisionalment la Direcció d'Obres del Port a l'antiga caserna de la Guàrdia Civil, situada en l'entrada del carrer de la Reina, mentres que les oficines de la Junta d'Obres es queden fora de l'àmbit del port, en un pis de lloguer a València.

A pesar de la provisionalitat que envolta la ubicació d'estes seccions del port des de la Guerra Civil, no és fins a 1957 quan s'acaba l'edifici que albergarà definitivament les oficines de la Junta i la Direcció d'Obres del Port.
 

Es tracta d'un edifici sòlid, de composició simètrica, on predominen els elements classicistes. Destaquen l'imponent basament de pedra, les pilastres que van marcant el ritme de les façanes i el frontó que remata el volum d'entrada i marca l'eix de simetria. Estos elements contrasten amb els panys de rajola roja que va deixant la seriació de pilastres.

En 1987 l'edifici és rehabilitat i ampliat per Jaime Ronda Agudo, enginyer en cap de la Secció de Projectes i Obres del port en el seu moment. En l'actualitat, s'hi troben les oficines del Consorci València 2007.




 

FORMER OFFICES OF THE PORT BOARD OF WORKS
 

Before the Civil War there was already a building which housed the offices of the Port Works Directorate, which was located in the Customs Dock, before said dock was extended. During the War, the building was completely destroyed and the offices, both for the Directorate and the Port Board of Works, were moved to the Dominican Monastery in Calle Cirilo Amorós. When the War was over, it was decided to move the Port Works Directorate, provisionally, to the former Barracks of the Civil Guard, located at the entrance to Calle de la Reina, while the offices of the Board of Works would remain outside the area of the Port, in a rented apartment in Valencia.

Despite it being understood that the postwar locations assigned to these divisions were to be temporary, it was not until 1957 that the building which would serve as the definitive home to the offices of the Port Board of Works and Works Directorate was finished.
 

It is a substantial building with a symmetrical composition dominated by classical elements. Particularly striking is the imposing stone plinth, the pilasters which establish the rhythm of the facades, and the pediment which tops the entrance section and marks the vertical axis of symmetry. These elements contrast with the sections of red brick wall which break up the ordered row of pilasters.

In 1987 the building was refurbished and extended by Jaime Ronda Agudo, Chief Engineer of the Projects and Works Division of the Port at the time. Today the building is home to the offices of Consorcio Valencia 2007.
